While Advanced Restoration Corp. is in route to your home, these tips can help minimize your loss:

  • Remove as much water as possible by mopping and blotting the saturated area
  • If a camera is handy take pictures of the damage
  • Turn off circuit breakers powering flooded areas
  • Unplug any small appliances or electrical devices
  • If you have respiratory problems, make plans to leave the house once we arrive
  • Remove and secure fragile and valuable items
  • Wipe furniture to remove excess water
  • Place aluminum foil between legs and wet carpet
  • Prop up wet furniture cushions for even drying
  • Lift drapes off flooring, loop through coat hanger and hang on curtain rod
  • Remove wet area rugs from hardwood floors
  • Move valuable paintings, art objects and photos to a safe, dry place

What Not To Do

  • Enter any area with standing water
  • Turn on lights in affected areas.
  • Use outlets in affected areas.
  • Walk on wet surfaces if possible
  • Remove carpeting and/or padding
  • Turn on A/C or heating as it could spread contamination
  • Go on the roof or cut any dry wall
  • Use your household vacuum to remove the excess water
  • Use electrical appliances while standing on wet floor or carpets
  • Stay out of any rooms where the ceiling is sagging from trapped water
