ASBESTOS ABATEMENT
What is asbestos and why is it dangerous?
Asbestos is a mineral that was used as a building material before its hazards were discovered. It can cause lung disease when its dust is inhaled. From 1919-1990, about 70% of insulation in the US had asbestos.
In 1978, the EPA banned the use of Asbestos in construction. Installers, who already owned asbestos materials, were permitted to use them in construction until 1986.
Due to its dangerous nature, it requires specialized techniques for safe removal. Hiring an asbestos abatement company, and not doing it yourself, is the wisest and safest decision when it comes to removing asbestos from any residential, commercial or public building. Asbestos abatement companies will properly test for the toxic mineral, follow strict regulations and processes, and carry the right abatement removal equipment to keep them, others and you safe from exposure.
